“Rowdy and yet melodic, Three Miles West’s sound is worn and comfortable, like a favorite pair of jeans.” -Westword Named by Colorado Music Buzz Magazine as one of the “Bands to Look out for in 2008” “alt.country engineers”- (the Denver Post) Elana Ashanti-Jefferson Westword Music Showcase and Award Nominee 2006 Three Miles West version 2.0 is the latest iteration of a band formed by singer songwriter Russ Christiansen. After a respectable one year period of mourning for the breakup of the original Three Miles West, surprising success and a small dose of unexpected press helped the band move onwards and upwards. This led to the reformation of the band in Jan 08. Crediting only ‘circumstances spiralling out of control’, the band was fortunate enough to recruit road warrior and stage veteran Todd Divel of Monkey Butlers fame to handle guitar duties for “a few shows”. Rounding out a solid lineup, Ryan of Hotel Sweet took over bass duties and the band was fortunate to land James from Kosmos on drums. In this short span of time the band has been booked as a feature act at the following Denver venues: Ogden Theatre (NIPP) Larimer Lounge, the Soiled Dove, The Walnut Room, the dNote Benders Tavern, Hard Rock Cafe (Denver), The Toad Tavern the Historic Oriental Theatre. & lots of dive bars! ……..and has offered support opening for the following critically praised National Acts while in Denver: James McMurtry Chuck Prophet, C. Gibbs, Milton Mapes, Grain & Demise, & Jon Prophet. . Now gig tested and audience approved after sharing the stage with local faves like Drag the River, Carolyns Mother, Love .45, Wendy Woo, Angie Stevens, Spiv, & Rubber Planet, the band took two years of road worn songs into the studio and culled 33 songs down to 10 to create “Dead Reckoning” , the bands recording debut. |
