When did they form? The most commonly-seen live line up didn’t come together until about July 2003. The EP was recorded with a different lineup back in March 2003, with Anthony Green on vocals, Zach Kennedy on bass and Pat McGrath on drums. For their first show (June 19th at the Showcase Theater in Corona, CA) Chris was on bass, and Danny was on drums. Alex debuted on drums at the July 17th show, also at the Showcase in Corona.
Who sang on the EP? Who wrote the lyrics? Anthony Green performed the vocals and wrote the lyrics for the songs on the EP. He is no longer the band’s singer, however.
Who played drums on the EP? Was it really Slayer’s drummer? Pat McGrath played drums on the EP. At one time he served as a drum tech for Slayer. He was also trained by such famous drummers as Carmine Appice, Dave Weckl, Dom Famularo, David Garibaldi, Kenny Aronoff, and Rod Morgenstein. He is not with the band any longer, however. The current drummer is Alex Rodriguez.
Why did Zach and Pat ‘leave the band’ after the recording of the EP? What are they doing now? According to this post, Pat never ‘left.’ He was hired by Beau to fill in as a drummer for the recording of the EP, but other than some practices before recording, that was where his stint with the band ended. As for Zach, he and Beau left Open:Hand to start Saosin. After Justin and Anthony joined the band, they had a little bit of trouble getting along with Zach due to issues with his girlfriend, so Zach left to persue his art career. Recently, Pat has been running Unchained Studios in San Dimas, CA. He has also been playing drums in a Metallica tribute band (currently on hiatus) called Creeping Death as well as a punk band called Amerikan Made. Zach has been playing bass for Ashlee Simpson’s band.
