Pacify first began through the friendship of drummer David Livingston and guitarist Mike Marquis, whose initial musical endeavors were stylistically punk. The two progressed to wanting to create music with a harsher, more composed sonic quality, and enlisted the bass talents of Mike Scotti via farmclub.com. The trio initially auditioned a friend of Livingston and Marquis for vocals, but after an unsuccessful attempts to create with their current vocalist, Livingston invited his older brother, Jason, to audition. Soon afterwards, the four sucessfully achieved a comfortable and productive creative process, as well as a distinct sound, which drew on such hard-rock influences as the Deftones, Slipknot, and Pantera, as well as more eclectic roots such as the Stone Temple Pilots, Opeth, and Dredg. During the course of it’s first year of inception, Pacify used live shows as well as a recording process (facilited by longtime friend and manager of then C-note Studio, Chris Pritts) to develop their sound and learn to capitalize on their songwriting talents. After emerging victorious from Rangeview High School’s battle of the bands (2002), the four recruited friend and drummer Landon Mikuls for his percussive and keyboard talents. Since the completion of the group, Pacify has enjoyed a period of immense creative gratification. They continue to play live shows on a regular basis, and in almost all cases, are met with an overwhelmingly positive response. The band plans on continuing forward, both in terms of the scope of their creativity and influence. With any luck, Pacify will reach a considerable number of people before they burn themselves out. |
