Bio

Kallisti formed in 2000 when Conrad Kehn (Vocals, synths) and D.U. music school compatriot Brandon Vaccaro (guitars, synths) began playing with David Hesker (drums) and Steven Millin (bass) who are previously of Skull flux fame. They began rehearsing in a tanning salon in Aurora but nothing good happens in A-town so they moved back to Denver. Progress was slow but steady. In late 2001, David and Conrad coerced Carrie Beeder (violin, synths) to join the band. About this time Steve Millin left. Failing to replace him with a hot chic bass player with horn-rimmed glasses, they ended up with Lawrence Kung who has brought new and exciting song-writing talents to the band.

Kallisti is an eclectic mix of various genres. It is a lie to say that metal and the urge to rock don’t impinge on our good senses at times. So, some of our music rocks. Not in a vainglorious and trivial way, rather in a tasteful way that affirms that cruelty and humor do go together. Add a bunch of musicians who try—but just can’t craft a pop song, a violin, some old analog synths, and you might get an inkling of what our songs are.

Colors not used to describe Kallisti’s music: yellow, magenta, pink, robin’s egg, taupe. Animals not associated but would enhance our image: bunnies, kittens, teenagers.

Kallisti currently live in Denver and have a fully functional 24-track recording studio in their practice space. Behind the tech wizardry of Brandon and Conrad, Kallisti has embarked upon a ambitious project to develop a boatload of self-recorded 3-song EPs. Keep in mind that the band will sell out at the first hint of major label interest, but will continue to build a high and powerful wave of indie credibility until then.

Besides being a louder-than-the-Melvins rock band, Kallisti has just introduced an acoustic set so as not to frighten patrons in establishments where food is served.
