Bluegrass is surely a people’s music. Folks who may have never crossed paths are suddenly brought together through a shared passion for music—a music that was meant to be shared. Such is the story with Hit & Run, Colorado’s young bluegrass band who is driving a steady storm through the Front Range. At only three months old, the group of stellar pickers have already won the coveted first place at the Rockygrass Band Competition in Lyons, CO. Hit & Run is driven by the very pickers you may have met around campfires in Colorado. Todd Livingston has been turning heads as the Rockygrass Dobro Contest 2001 Champion and Rockygrass 2002 instructor; John Frazier sings and plays the mandolin and so fast and tasty it will make a head spin, and was the visionary of the popular Tall Trees Grove in Boulder; banjo champion Aaron Youngberg brings a loyal Fort Collins fan base to the band as well as his tasteful and hard-drivin’ orginal tunes; 21-year-old Erin Coats grew up playing the bass with her banjo-pickin’ Dad in Wyoming, and has a powerful bluegrass voice; and Rebecca Hoggan has received national attention in Flatpicking Guitar Magazine and Bluegrass Unlimited for her flatpicking and vocal accomplishments, which are exhibited on her debut solo release, “Born in East Virginia.” Already in demand for next summer’s festival season, this young band has plans to have as much fun as possible in the years to come. And to Hit & Run, that means bringing the bluegrass they love to as many folks who wish to listen. “Hit and Run was FANTASTIC!!! I thought you all gave a wonderful >performance! The CBMS Board and I really appreciate your participation in the show.” -BJ Suter, President, Colorado Bluegrass Music Society, and Promoter, CBMS Gospel & Bluegrass Pie Social & Jamboree. “Hit and Run is THE new bluegrass band from Out West to keep your eye on. With their energy, dedication, and great musicianship they will be an asset to any event.” -Suzie Solomon, producer, Happy Jack Music Festival |
