Bringing out new figures of hybrid mixtures between hip-hop and the wildest ways of rock, Brassy charged the U.K. music scene thanks to their singular creativity and attitude. Relying on mass shows of energy, the band soon began to have a large following due to their almost unforgettable live performances. Brassy began their operations with Muffin Spencer (vocals, guitar), Stefan Gordon (guitar), and Jonny Barrington (drums); Karen Frost (bass, vocals) was later the final addition to the lineup. The group easily found their way by releasing three singles on Costermonger, an independent label. However, they soon ran out of luck after the company went bankrupt. Following a two-year period and unstoppable live appearances, Brassy finally signed to Wiiija Records. Bonus Beats, an EP released in 1999, showed up as their first record for the new label. The crew then toured the U.K. once more before releasing their first single in the year 2000, “Work It Out.” Enthusiastic reviews from the media corresponded with the complete success of Got It Made, their debut album. In February 2001, the record hit stores in the U.S., prior to their first American tour. Two years later, Brassy returned with Gettin’ Wise. |
